It makes me sad for the next generation of kids today when I'm walking down the street seeing girls, barely out of primary school, dressed up to look like they're 10 years older & ready to hit the town later that night! It's scary, at that early teen age I was busy playing footy with the boys across the street, or at the beach every afternoon in the surf, spending time with my friends playing games, watching movies & having slumber parties of a weekend!

All to often i hear stories of young girls going through the teenage years being caught out, maybe drunk at a park with a group of boys when they were meant to be at a friends place sleeping over, or at a house party on drugs when they were meant to be at the local Thai for a girls dinner, spending their weekends working hard on social media snap chatting or messaging the boy their interested in, and spending nearly all their casual shift work from the local cafe on the latest outfit and makeup to turn them from 16 to 26 ready to hit the town. It's a scary scene & one I've lived through with friends but was lucky to have sport which kept me out of trouble and driven towards my goals!

So why is Triathlon the BEST move for girls? Listen up!

  • Hard work!
  • with hard work comes personal reward and self satisfaction
  • sense of pride
  • self belief & confidence
  • strong & fit + very healthy!!!
  • accomplishing goals - races others couldn't dream of getting through!
  • focused!
  • multidisciplinary
  • goes places, gives goals & rewards for hard work through travel to races
  • Individual sport, no bitchiness to get in the way, no way of people not to pass the back to you, it's just yourself & your hard work to get you through the swim, bike & run!
  • Not afraid to get your hand a dirty and get into some hard sweaty work
  • keeps you out of trouble, you realise  you have bigger & better goals & you start to appreciate how mundane & repetitive others lives are, getting drunk in the park on an endless negative loop of the same drama every week

Time to get among it girls & give it a tri 😉

Put that active wear to a good sweaty use!
